It started with a simple mission trip to Uganda. What happened next could only be described as divine providence.
That conversation marked the beginning of Master Cares—a ministry born not from expertise, but from obedience. What began as one person’s calling has grown into a comprehensive community transformation movement touching thousands of lives across Uganda.
Walking through Ugandan communities, the reality of poverty became impossible to ignore. Poverty is ugly. It affects every stage of life, and it’s not easy to overcome. In homes without bathrooms, kitchens, refrigerators, or even proper doors—just curtains—families were doing their best to survive.
But amidst the hardship, something beautiful emerged: the people were wonderful. Their resilience, faith, and hope became the foundation upon which Master Cares would build.
Despite knowing nothing about running a school, we walked past a piece of property nearly every day until the calling became clear. With favorable local financing and a lot of faith, we launched a school.
Today, that school ranks in the top 5% of all schools in every category. We know these students will be the ones in leadership positions throughout the country, and we hope they will change the direction of Uganda because they’ve been changed by the gospel.
Our farm ranches represent years of trial and error, helping farmers become successful in a safe environment where they can experience real progress. The main lesson we teach is powerful: you can make a good living on just half an acre.
Every six months, trainees hit a milestone and receive livestock—a pregnant pig, a goat, a cow, and 100 chickens. By the time they graduate, they’re out of poverty for the rest of their lives.
Those words capture the tangible transformation happening in people’s lives.
When a nurse on our board asked what we thought about starting a hospital, the need was undeniable. People were dying. Real medical care was virtually unavailable. Uganda ranked number two in the world for pre and postnatal deaths.
We found Dr. Santago, a physician making significant money with the United Nations who gave up that position to return to the small community where he was raised. His vision went beyond treating ailments—he wanted to train the village about sanitation and the importance of clean water.
What started as a hospital has expanded to include a malnutrition clinic that the Ministry of Health now wants to use as a model throughout the country. This wasn’t just about medicine; it was about addressing the root causes of suffering.
When you see the water people drink and how far they have to walk to get it, it touches your heart. We often credit malaria or HIV for taking lives, but many people die because their bodies can’t recover without access to fresh, clean water.
Today, we dig two water wells each month. We’ve completed well over 100 wells, with each serving approximately 1,000 people daily. Clean water has become one of the most transformative interventions we provide.
Our three ranches have developed four churches—not because we planned it, but because when people finished the discipleship program, they asked, “What do we do now? We want to keep going.”
We created an intern program to train graduates to disciple others and build churches. Now, at the end of the program, they’re capable of starting a church or launching one of our ranches. The multiplication effect is powerful.

The ministry continues because it’s all about God. But for it to truly flourish and spread across Uganda—or even Africa—we need more people to partner with us.
In the communities where we work, 90-95% of homes still don’t have bathrooms, kitchens, refrigerators, or proper doors. The need remains vast, but so does the opportunity.
The call is simple but profound: take success and turn it into significance. It can be done. We’re living proof.
Every life changed, every well dug, every student educated, and every church planted represents the power of partnership with God and with people who believe change is possible.
