Today was the second real day we got to spend in the beautiful country of Uganda. It started a little early for me, with a roster crowning at around 4:30 ish, but it was a great reminder that God has given us another day to spread His ministries and teachings to the people of Uganda!
I didn’t get much sleep after that because I kept thinking God had given us another day to spread His mercies. After everyone woke up and got ready for the day, we went and ate breakfast, which included eggs, potatoes, fruit, bread, little drummies, and some juice. After breakfast, Ryan led the devotion on abiding in Jesus while we are on this trip, and how in Luke 10:38-42 it talks about how Martha was only worried about how everything looked and if everything was set out, while Mary was listening to Jesus. Martha complained to Jesus and asked him to tell Mary to help when Jesus said that Mary had chosen the good portion that would not be taken away from her. This was just a good reminder to be focused on God instead of everything I have to do here in Uganda. After this, we went back to our rooms to pack up and get ready for hut-to-hut evangelism.
Before we started hut-to-hut, a blind man named George played guitar and sang for us. Hut-to-hut was very exciting with so many lives changed towards God. After that, we had the grand opening of George and Rose’s homes. The housesare beautiful, and he was so grateful to everyone who helped build them. We were able to dedicate the houses that were built by the Prestonwood student team during spring break, one for Rose and one for George. After the celebration at George and Rose’s homes, we ate lunch and then went to the land where the church was going to be built, and we prayed over it.
We went and dedicated the water well that my grandmothers sister, Aunt Harriet, donated to a local school. It was so cool to see how much the people enjoyed watching the water come out of the well. They were so joyful for the well.
After dedicating the well to that community, we went to the Master Cares Christian School and hung out with the kids before church. The kids were so happy to see us, and they enjoyed having us there. They walked around with us, and we played on the playground with them. Church was really fun! The music was so upbeat and fun to dance to. The message was about the ways to live a Christian life. That was really impactful because it made me think about how to live a Christian lifestyle the right way. Then we went back to the hotel for dinner, which was chicken, rice, and fries. After dinner, we had a day recap, talked about what is on the schedule for tomorrow, and played a game called Cards Christian’s Like. It was so fun to play. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow can hold.
