Today was one of those days that I know I will carry with me for the rest of my life. We were out doing door-to-door evangelism when we came to a small home and were welcomed in by a mother and her daughters. Almost immediately, they began to share their faith.
They spoke with such joy and confidence, and it was clear they were born-again believers. There was a warmth in their voices, the kind that makes you feel like you’ve known someone for years even though you’ve just met.
As we talked more, we learned that there was one person in the family who had not yet given his life to Christ. It was their only son. You could feel the weight of that reality in the room. The mother’s love for him was evident in every word she spoke.
Then, in a moment I wasn’t expecting, she reached for something and began to read aloud her will and her personal testimony. Sitting there, listening to her speak about her faith and her hopes for her home, I felt like time slowed down. She shared that her greatest desire was for her house to always be led by born-again believers and that she wanted to live and die as a Christian. Her words were quiet, steady, and full of faith. I could sense how many prayers had been whispered in that home long before we ever arrived.”
After we encouraged her, the rest of the family came out to sit with us on the porch. The sun was warm, and the air felt still, as if heaven itself was leaning in. We continued talking, especially with the son. There was no pressure, just honest conversation and gentle truth. And then, almost without warning, his heart softened. Right there, surrounded by his mother and sisters, he said he was ready.
So on that porch, with the entire family present, he gave his life to Christ. We prayed together, tears in our eyes, hands joined, praising God for what we were witnessing. I remember thinking how rare this was—how uncommon it is in this culture to see an entire family standing together as born-again believers.
It felt sacred. It felt complete. It felt like a glimpse of what God can do when a family’s prayers finally meet His perfect timing. Tonight, as I write this, I can still see their faces and hear their voices. And I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I was there to witness it.
