Today started off with a thunderstorm that started around 5 am and lasted until around 8 am. So instead of going to the construction site at Ninzi because the roads were so bad, we went to The Master Cares Christian School and hung out with the kids today.
We visited the kindergartners, P.1 and P.2 students. Overall, it was a very fun experience as we acted out our favorite Bible stories and sang songs. We also had a chance to tour all of The Master Cares Christian School. As a part of that, we also got to watch a film of the new farm in Nakasongola, which is about 8-9 hours north of here. To wrap up our morning, we had lunch with the high schoolers in their dining hall, which was pretty cool. We ate a traditional Ugandan meal of rice and beef, which was actually really good. What I loved was just sitting and talking with all of the students and seeing that they are just like us.
The afternoon went on to be one I don’t think I will soon forget. We drove a short distance to a school compound that was predominantly Muslim. The amazing Snyder family, through The Master Cares, generously donated a water well at that school campus. We had the opportunity to be a part of the dedication. It was an absolutely HUGE group of students who greeted us, singing, dancing, and rejoicing because of the donation of this well. Their school headmaster and other leaders were so kind and appreciative. I’m not kidding that there were at least 500 people there! Anna Buchanan got to share the good news of Jesus Christ through the story of Hagar! Can you imagine that many Muslims in one location intently listening to the TRUTH of God’s word? And then Mr. Snyder spoke of the joy it was for him and his family to be part of not just giving clean drinking water, but also telling of the Living Water of Jesus. It was powerful!
We then returned to the MCCS to relax for a bit, cool off, and get ready for Wednesday night church at Kyotera Bible Church. We headed to the worship center, where we heard the sounds of worship fill the air. The church was packed full with students, teachers, and staff. Our own Mason Terry did an awesome job preaching tonight from Colossians 3:1-10, highlighting the difference between our old self before accepting Christ and our new self after accepting Him.
Sadly, we had to leave the school, and even more sad, that was our last time, so the goodbyes were hard, but hopefully some of us can come back next year. Overall, it was a great day, and we did some amazing work, even though we could not work on George’s and Rose’s homes. It was a great day of meeting some amazing kids and dedicating a water well, which will hopefully allow more people to see the goodness of Jesus and make more of his disciples.
Tomorrow could be a really tough day. We will be part of a malnutrition outreach that gives children hope through modern medicine and Jesus. Would you please pray for us as we serve people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to this care?
