Oli Otya!! (How are you in Lugandan) Welcome to the blog for day 3! I want to start off by saying that while I write this I get to sit outside and admire the BEAUTIFUL view God has blessed us with around me. There are roosters “cock-a-doodle-dooing” outside, the air has a cool breeze to it, and it feels calming.
Last night we all got the joy of having the first official time difference sleep. Personally, I fell asleep at 9 pm our time and woke up so refreshed and ready to conquer the day. I looked at the time, and it was 10 pm… After being awake for a little bit, I could hear a man’s voice coming from outside and look out the window to realize there was a man speaking to himself all night, and everyone could hear him. Lol!
We got to go to Kyotera Bible Church’s worship service this morning. During worship, I looked around and saw people who had very little, but still had the most joy for the Lord I have seen in almost anyone. Pastor Cole gave a wonderful sermon covering the question, “Have you had an encounter with Jesus that has changed you?” Once the sermon was done, we got to see the fabulous Master Care Christian School’s student choir sing songs of praise to welcome us to their church. Following them were children who performed traditional dances, then welcomed us on stage to teach us some moves.
Following the end of the service, we got to go outside and be greeted by so many wonderful children. They were amazed at all of the girls’ long hair and loved meeting us, taking photos, and learning all about our lives. Gabe and I even got to go “teach” a 7th-grade class. Elliot got her hair braided in different directions. Ian got to walk around carrying one of the cutest babies ever! Georgia was teaching them how her Apple Watch turns off just by covering it with her hand. The Snyders were playing football (soccer) with the kids. Mandy was showing the kids photos of back at home. Mason was getting asked about Christmas and what it looks like. Anna was reuniting with kids she remembers from her last trip. Ava, Addison, and Sara were talking to the kids and getting to know them. Mr. Cole was being friendly with everyone and meeting kids. Mrs. Holly got to see the students she and her husband sponsor from the school. Mrs. Anna also got to meet and reconnect with people from her past trip.
After leaving the church, we came back to the hotel, ate lunch, and rested for a little bit. Then some of us went downstairs to the nice weather and played card games and “football”.
Overall, today was so much fun and very eye-opening. I am soooooo excited for the rest of the week! Please be praying for us as we start to go build 2 houses tomorrow, and that the Lord will place people in our path this week who need to hear the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
