Prestonwood Student Ministry Day 10 – From the Journal of Anna B

“Time always arrives.”

I use this quote often, and it seems especially fitting as I sit here on the last leg of a series of (long) flights. (I was told to make this descriptive, so imagine Sara B. right beside me with her Ugandan-braided hair and drool coming out of her mouth)

How did we get here so fast? How did those mornings of breakfast and anticipation for the days ahead turn so quickly to the last few hours of a flight from Istanbul to DFW?

I believe that time is a gift – but a vanishing one, at that. How we choose to steward our time shows an understanding of God, the holder of time… I also believe the discipline of remembrance of our time displays an understanding of Him, as well.

I don’t want us to forget this time, moving on in our lives and going about our normal routines. For these 15 sitting around me on this plane right now, I pray that seeds were planted through these memories in Uganda that will later foster to something big that GOD could only grow.

I’m so proud of our team. We bonded as family, we served over 104 kids at a malnutrition clinic, we helped build a house (well… we tried our best, but our Ugandan brothers are the real stars there), we presented the Gospel at a Muslim school, and most importantly… we counted over 50 decisions for Christ.

To be used as an instrument for His glory; WHAT more could you ask for in a trip? To Sara (x2), Gabe, Ian, Elliott, Georgia, Ava, Addison, Mason, Anna W, and Mandy, putting your “yes” on the table this week has blessed me and pointed me to faithfulness, so thank you! One of the most “dangerous” prayers you could ever pray is: “God, use me” … because He will! Continue to do this for the rest of your days, & He will take you on the ride of a lifetime.

To Holly, Suzette, Matt, and Cole… how blessed are we to have had this group together?! You each exemplify Christ in the seen and unseen, and I have much to learn.

To the families who gave their “yes” to allow their student to go on this trip, thank you for entrusting us with their care, and I am smiling thinking of you sitting around the table with your student as they express what God did in Uganda. (Well, maybe let them get caught up on sleep first because we all know what a teenager is like on low sleep…)

Team, we made it! Highs, lows, and water buffalos next time we’re together again 🤍
