What a day! God moved in so many ways today, and I am so excited to share about my experience!! Instead of waking up to a rooster this morning, we woke up to the sound of rain. Although today may have looked different than we expected, God still used it to make an impact on all of our lives.
We woke up and got ready to head to the school for day two of our sports camp. Because of the rain, we had to change plans and move inside. We split into groups of four square and also groups where we taught American line dances. Foursquare wasn’t a huge hit, so it ended up being one big dance party, which was a blast!
It was so special to see the pure joy on each kid’s face. I got the opportunity to spend some time with one of my family’s sponsor children named Angel. We had so much fun dancing together. It’s truly so special to get to spend time with someone that I’ve only ever talked to through letters and pictures.
We taught the kids ‘footloose’ and ‘fishing in the dark’ along with some other fun dances. After that, we split the kids up into small groups, and each of us shared a bible story with them. My group was so attentive, and it was so evident that they loved Jesus. I taught about peace and shared scripture from John 14. It was so inspiring to see their desire to learn about Jesus.
After we finished that, some of the kids wanted to teach me some games. They taught me a song that had a handshake that went along with it. We ended our time with the kids in one huge circle where we danced and played games. I couldn’t get over the joy and excitement that filled the entire room.
After our time at the Master Cares School We visited the farm and got to meet the students there. We also got a tour of the hospital and vocational school. The students aren’t only being taught a skill to be able to make money for their families, but they are, most importantly, learning about the love of Jesus. They are being discipled and poured into which is far greater than any physical skill that could be learned.
After that, we traveled back to our hotel and ate dinner. Each night, we have a time of reflection as a team, and we each talk about something God has shown us that day. Truly, such a special time for the team.
I have absolutely loved getting to see the pure joy that each and every person has here. The joy of the Lord is so evident. This trip has been a reminder for me to be grateful and to find the joy in every moment.
