How is it possible that after today, my heart feels heavier and fuller all at the same time?
We spent time at the malnutrition outreach, surrounded mostly by mothers and their little ones. As I looked around, I saw tiny bodies that should have been running and laughing, instead wrapped in fragile stillness. Some of the children were held close against their mothers’ chests, others sat quietly in their laps, eyes too tired for their age. It is impossible to describe what it feels like to stand in a group of people like that without your heart breaking open.
And yet, in the middle of such heartbreaking circumstances, there was warmth. The mothers welcomed us with gentle smiles and open hearts. They listened as we shared the Word of God, leaning in, eager to hear, willing to believe. There was no bitterness, no resentment … only a quiet hope that seemed to rise above their suffering.
What struck me most was how willing they were to trust God in the middle of their pain. Despite the uncertainty they live with every day, they chose faith. They chose to listen. They chose to believe. Walking away, I realized how much this moment had opened my eyes. In a place marked by lack, I witnessed extraordinary grace. And I will never forget the way faith felt so alive in a room where so much was missing.
