The Bethlehem Farm Couples Agriculture and Discipleship program is such an exciting project.
The ability to feed couples and their families both physically and spiritually creates so much potential for God’s Kingdom.
The demo program at the Bethlehem farm has recently undergone significant changes to its layout, and there are more to come.
Our goal is to help bring the program from “successful” to “exemplary”.
To do this, we have to answer the question: What is the true purpose of the demo farm?
1.) To grow vegetables successfully in the demo.
Or
2.) to successfully teach the couples how to garden.
This week, I worked with both groups of couples, the 1st year and the 2nd year groups. We had classroom time together and time out in the demo farm. In the classroom, we spent time reviewing Gods blessings related to farming, and read scripture that show us God created Man with the intention that he would work and properly manage the blessings that God gave.
He provides us Sunlight, the same Sun that provided life for plants in the Garden of Eden.
He supplied rain to water his garden.
He provided suitable weather for the plants to grow(Uganda has beautiful weather).
And he provided soil for the plants to grow in. The same soil that he used to create man.
God created the Garden, and then created man to work and manage it. Everything needed for the plants to grow was already supplied by God.
We learned that we are only able to change 1 of the 4 things God provided, we can change the soil. By replicating the natural soil processes created by God, we can improve our soil health and create a garden that glorifies God as he deserves. 1 Corinthians 10:31…. Do it all to the glory of God.
We also studied scripture that states our responsibility in Gardening:
Galatians 6:7- “reap what you sow”- a physical and spiritual warning.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”
A key lesson in the program is “God has provided the resources we need, and it’s our responsibility to manage them properly.”
When we do this, we bring glory to his name.
Uganda is the “Pearl of Africa” with healthy soil, beautiful weather, lots of sunshine.
It is our responsibility at “Master Cares” to do everything we can, with all our heart and all our might, to help these couples succeed.
Failure in the garden creates a lack of trust, and a lack of trust causes us to lose our ability to disciple. This is not an option.
As the program continues to improve, as the couples improve, and as I myself improve, we will continually move closer and closer to Exemplary.
