Today was a deeply moving day for all of us on the mission.
We started the day by attending Kyotera Bible Church at Master Cares. The message from Pastor Daniel (Happy birthday, Pastor Daniel 🎉) seemed as though God was speaking to our team and reminding us what our true mission and purpose are here.
Pastor Daniel spoke on the 2 attributes required of those who call themselves believers:
1.) Being a saint- “set apart.”
2.) Being faithful
He taught that sainthood precedes faithfulness. Jesus is what sets us apart. Once we accept that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and that His word is truth, we are then set apart. But being faithful is our calling in return.
We as believers will be called “faithful” because of our continued trust in the truth as given by Christ, our adherence to His truth and His ways, and our willingness to labor and sacrifice to abide in Him.
In order to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant,” we must BE FAITHFUL first!
He wrapped up service by quoting Revelation 2:10: “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”
It was not lost on me that our trip, from stepping on the plane to stepping back off, is exactly 10 days. Thus far, we’ve had severe unexpected car trouble trying to make it to the airport, luggage and equipment quite literally lost around the world, equipment and supplies broken and in disarray upon arrival, and multiple spiritual attacks on our team members. To me, it felt like a deeply personal reminder from the Father, and as if He was saying, “STAY THE COURSE! Keep your eyes on Me. DO NOT LET THE ENEMY STEAL YOUR JOY AND FAITHFULNESS!”
As if service wasn’t amazing enough, we were at last blessed by incredible performances by The Master Cares youth choir and competitive dance team. Seeing these children dance and sing with such joyful hearts/spirits renewed something within all of us and brought about a child-like playfulness from our team; we even got to see Surgical Steve get on the floor and breakdance!
We wrapped up our second day by introducing ourselves to and interviewing our patients and finishing the hospital prep.
We are THRILLED to step into the surgical week with renewed joyfulness and hope after such a tremendous day.
